The treatment is designed to stimulate the growth of new tissue and blood vessels in the clitoris and vaginal walls, increasing sensitivity and improving sexual function. The O-Shot is a minimally invasive procedure that takes less than an hour to complete and is typically performed in a clinical setting. The benefits of the O-Shot may last up to a year or longer, depending on the individual.
The O-Shot San Marcos procedure begins with the collection of the patient's blood, which is then processed to extract approximately five milliliters of PRP. To ensure patient comfort, a BLT cream is applied to the labia and clitoris for superficial numbing, while a 2% lidocaine/epi injection is administered behind the clitoris. After a few minutes, 2 milliliters of PRP extract are carefully injected into the clitoris, with the remainder being injected into the anterior wall of the vagina, where the g-spot is typically located. Finally, the treated area is gently padded with a period pad, and patients can typically return to their regular activities with minimal downtime.
One of the common questions that we get from our patients revolves around whether or not a PHP O-Shot is right for them as well as the benefits of it. Just a few examples of the benefits of a PRP O-Shot may include:
Before your O-Shot, there are several instructions and tips to follow to ensure the best possible outcome. To increase your fluid intake, drink two glasses of water in the morning, at lunch, and at dinner the day before your procedure. However, avoid drinking water too late in the evening to prevent frequent bathroom trips at night. It is also important to have a regular breakfast and lunch on the day of your O-Shot. One hour before the procedure, drink 16 ounces of water but make sure to empty your bladder beforehand.
When it comes to medications, you should avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and diclofenac for at least three days before your O-Shot, as they may decrease the effectiveness of PRP. Tylenol can be taken for any pain or discomfort. If you are taking a prescribed blood thinner or aspirin for health reasons, inform our team before scheduling the O-Shot, as special arrangements may need to be made. Blood-thinning supplements such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Ginkgo, garlic, flax, cod liver oil, or other fish oil should be discontinued at least one week before the procedure. Also, stop taking multivitamins containing these ingredients one week before the O-Shot. However, it is fine to continue iron and vitamin D supplements.
You should aim to abstain from sex for at least two days before the O-Shot. Also, you should avoid alcohol for three days before the procedure, and if you smoke, stop smoking or limit smoking for at least three days before the O-Shot, as smoking can negatively impact the healing process.
Our team will provide you with a comprehensive breakdown of the steps that you need to take prior to your appointment.
After the O-Shot, it is recommended to avoid anti-inflammatory medications for at least three days (preferably seven) to allow inflammation to occur, which is how PRP works. Tylenol can be taken for any pain or discomfort. Similar to before the procedure, avoid blood-thinning supplements such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Ginkgo, garlic, flax, cod liver oil, and essential fatty acids for at least one week. Abstain from sex for at least 24 hours (or longer if you are still numb or sore). Alcohol is not strictly forbidden after the O-Shot, but it is recommended to limit consumption for three days after the procedure. If you smoke, it is advised to stop smoking or limit smoking for at least three days after the O-Shot to promote healing.
The O-Shot procedure typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete, depending on
the individual patient. The timeframe for your appointment is something that we will prepare you for beforehand so that you are aware and ready.
The effects of the O-Shot are not permanent, but they can last for several months to a few years. The longevity of the results varies from person to person and depends on factors such as age, overall health, and individual response to the treatment. Some women may require repeat injections to maintain the desired results.
The time frame for experiencing the results of an O-Shot can differ from person to person. Some women may notice an immediate improvement in sexual function and sensation, while others may take a few weeks or more to see the full benefits. It is important to keep in mind that the O-Shot works by stimulating natural healing and rejuvenation processes in the body, which can take some time to fully manifest. Additionally, the effects of the O-Shot can continue to improve over several months as the body continues to regenerate tissue and improve blood flow to the treated areas.
