These injections are administered in a medical setting by licensed aesthetic nurses with personalized, hands-on experience. The Studio Med Spa is  dedicated to providing you with the best results possible, and our team will work with you to help you achieve your desired outcomes.

What are Semaglutide Injections?

Semaglutide is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. Up until recently, it has been primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, a condition in which the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use insulin effectively. GLP-1 is a naturally-occuring hormone and plays a role in  regulating hunger and feelings of fullness by sending signals to the brain to reduce food intake.

Semaglutide injections mimicGLP-1 in the body, which can help to reduce hunger and increase feelings of satiety. This sensation can help you feel like you need to eat less and can help you achieve weight loss over time.

However, weight loss injections do not work by simply blocking the absorption of food or reducing calorie intake. Instead, they work by regulating hunger and fullness, which can lead to a reduction in food intake overall and promote weight loss more naturally and sustainably. In other words, patients receiving the injections cannot dramatically increase their caloric intake outside of their normal diet and still expect to see successful weight loss results.

What are the Benefits of Semaglutide Injections?

Reasons for weight loss vary from person to person, and the reality is that semaglutide injections are something that can be extremely beneficial. A few examples of these advantages include:

  1. Improved glycemic control: Losing weight can help to lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity, which can lead to better glycemic control and reduced risk of diabetic complications.

  2. Lower blood pressure: Losing weight can help to lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

  3. Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease: Being overweight or obese is a major risk factor for heart disease, and losing weight can help to reduce this risk.

  4. Improved joint health: Carrying extra weight can put added stress on joints, causing pain and increasing the risk of joint damage. Losing weight can help to reduce joint pain and improve overall joint health.

  5. Improved mental health: Being overweight or obese can affect self-esteem and lead to depression and anxiety. Losing weight can help to improve body image and self-confidence, leading to improved mental health.

  6. Improved sleep: Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of sleep apnea, and losing weight can help to improve sleep quality and reduce the risk of sleep-related disorders.

It is important to keep in mind that weight loss should always be approached in a healthy and

sustainable manner, such as through a balanced diet and regular physical activity, and under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Rapid weight loss or use of extreme measures to lose weight can be harmful to health.

How You May Feel After Receiving Semaglutide Injections

One of the understandable questions that many people have when it comes to semaglutide injections revolves around how they may feel after receiving an injection. It is common for patients to experience mild side effects, but these are usually temporary and disappear on their own quickly. Some common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, headache and constipation. However, these side effects are usually mild and can be managed with the help of your healthcare provider.

After receiving an injection, many patients report feeling more in control of their eating habits and find that they can make healthier food choices. Additionally, the increased feelings of fullness can help to reduce snacking and overeating, further promoting weight loss and helping you feel in control of your weight and diet.

What Results to Expect After Your Semaglutide Injections

The results of semaglutide injections vary from person to person, but many people can expect to see significant weight loss with regular use within 8 weeks.

In clinical trials, about a third of people who use semaglutide injections for weight loss will lose 10% or more of their body weight. Most people should expect to lose at least 5% of their starting body weight when using semaglutide injections for weight loss. The exact amount of weight you may lose is dependent on a variety of factors. In recent large RCTs (randomized control trials) patients with obesity lost a mean of 6% of their weight by week 12 and 12% of their weight by week 28.1 It is important to remember that semaglutide injections are intended for use in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. The medication is not a magic solution, and you will need to make lifestyle changes to achieve the best results possible.
